5787 Prophetic word: "7"

5787: "Lose the ‘Wait’” 

The Spirit of the Lord is saying:  “Remove the wait of ‘I’m not ready yet'.’”

This is the year of the “lucky” number 7.

Seven=divine perfection, completion, rest

No I don’t believe in luck!  But I believe  when folks use the word “luck” what it really means is God took over their inabilities and inadequacies and made the situation work in their favor. Luck is His favor and mercy turning the tables for our benefit. It is God taking over even when we don’t have everything together. 

This is the year of the “7” and this week I want to express just one prophetic aspect of what to tune into for this new Hebraic year of 5787. This year: Remove the wait of “I’m not ready yet”.   

There is a Rabbinic story that is humorous but teaches us an important lesson that will help sustain us when we find us ourselves inadequate.

Story

In the days past, there was the custom of the lottery in Jewish communities. A man would come to town and set up his booth selling lottery tickets. Everyone in the town would buy a lottery ticket—everyone.  In this one particular town, this one fellow refused to buy a ticket. He had the unfortunate reputation of having two left hands and two left feet. We all know what that means. He couldn’t do anything right and it seemed nothing ever went right. 

Have you ever said to yourself, “I can’t do that. I have two left feet”.  I think we can all relate to some degree.

To continue the story, the town convinced him to buy a ticket and to everyone’s surprise he won!  In those days, you wrote your own number on the ticket.

When asked how did he know the wining number, he said it was simple.  His mother always taught him that in life all you need is brains and a little mazal.  Mazal in Hebrew means luck or good fortune.

My mother always said 7 was the luckiest number and I thought of the 7^th day, the sabbath set apart and holy and every 7 years is the Shemittah when the land rests.   My brain concluded, if one 7 is so lucky, then 7 x 7 is even better so I chose the number 48.

The villagers exclaimed, “But 7 x 7 is 49”!  

Yes, that is where the mazal kicked in. I have never been good at math.

The point of the story is he didn’t have to be brilliant to experience God’s favor. Inadequacy does not disqualify you. Our personal limitations do not prevent the outcome. We are the ones who think that way. Fortunately, God does not. But we inadvertently become instrumental in our own delays. 

5787 New Year resolution:  “Lose the wait—stop postponing your call”

The following is the unwanted “fat” that gathers around the mid-section of our souls. Here’s the “wait” we need to lose.

o   “I'm not ready.”

o   “I don't know enough.”

o   “Someone else could do this better.”

o   “I need more training.”

o   “I don't have the resources.”

o   “I'm not talented enough.”

o   “Maybe someday.”

o   “I'll do it when everything is in place.”

There is a difference between waiting on God and waiting on yourself. Waiting on yourself can become procrastination disguised as preparation.  “I’ll start when I am ready”.

 Jesus is our “mazal” meaning He is our fortune our advantage in this world. “Mazal” has come to  mean fortune or luck and Tov is the Hebrew word for “good”.   Draw near to Him and lean on Him.  It isn’t luck. It’s His intervention.

 Everyone will know when your favor arrives that it was God’s favor upon you and His name will be glorified.  We will boast in the Lord and His name will be made famous.  

1 Co 1:26  For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.  

1 Co 1:27 But God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God chose what the world thinks weak to shame the strong. 

In this new season of 5787, the favor of God is upon the humble.  Now stop waiting and step into it. Jesus wants to partner with you: 6 is the number of man, 1 is the number of God. Man, partnering with God, adds up to 7 which is the number of divine perfection and completion. That’s a lot more than luck!

Enter into that rest, partner with God, birth the dream. Trust Him to bring forth that which He has already deposited in your heart.  

That’s the key: embracing the dream that is His—the dream He has placed within our hearts and invited us to carry.

 So for this new year 5787 I declare “Mazal Tov”!   You don’t do it alone.

(Mazal Tov is Hebrew for “Good Fortune or congratulations”. 
Mazal literally means “constellation or destiny” and commonly
translated today as “luck” or “fortune”. Job 38:32)
