God's Imagination

the mystical Oct 01, 2025

Before the first sunrise painted the sky or the oceans kissed the shore, there was imagination—God’s imagination. In His infinite mind, He dreamed of stars and atoms, lions and ladybugs, music and mathematics. And then He spoke—and what was once only in His divine imagination burst into a glorious, radiant existence.

Hebrews 11:3 (NIV)
"By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible."

PRAY
God of wonder, You imagined the universe and gave it life. You imagined me—and gave me breath. Help me to walk in awe of You, to use my imagination to explore Your love, and to live as one who is deeply known and beautifully made by You. Amen.

Flight was once only a fantasy. Now it connects continents. Cures for diseases, towering cities, masterpieces of art and poetry—all began as invisible sparks in the human imagination. And we, the dreamers, are ourselves the dream of God.  In Hebrew thinking, “thoughts” are mental pregnancies.  We can birth wondrous inventions and creations.

Have you ever wondered why we can imagine, create, and dream? It’s because we are made in the image of the Creator—the One whose imagination gave birth to galaxies. Our imagination is a sacred echo of His own.

But here is the most stunning thought: God imagined you!
Not just your form or function, but your smile, your voice, your laugh, and your heart. Before you were born, He imagined loving you. And perhaps, in creating us, God experienced something new—not because He lacked love, but because He chose to share it. To step outside of divine perfection and invite us into a relationship. He imagined love and discovered you.
