Greatest Danger

Risky business!

We usually think the worst sins are the ones that make us miserable, the ones that leave us feeling guilty, ashamed, or broken. But those aren’t actually the biggest problem. Why? Because when sin makes us miserable, we want to get rid of it. We want change. The very fact we want to change puts a draw on God’s forgiveness.  The conviction of sin is evidence of the blood of Jesus flowing into every crevice of remorse and sorrow—setting us free of all condemnation and guilt.

So, what is the real danger? What sin is the most dangerous? The real danger is the sin we enjoy. The sin that feels good. The one we excuse, defend, or say “it’s not that bad.” We may justify or downplay by saying "it's not serious," "it's not anyone's fault," "everyone does it," or "it is considered acceptable within today’s culture."  That’s the trap. Because if we don’t hate it, we won’t fight it.

The enemy doesn’t always come with pain, sometimes he comes with pleasure. He doesn’t always present himself as an adversary. His goal is to remain hidden, especially in our ungodly pleasures. His power lies in his ability to remain hidden. Undetected, he can manipulate and deceive us. Once he is discovered, he knows he is finished. He knows the authority that operates in the blood of Jesus is his demise. Game over.

The hardest battle isn’t giving up what already hurts us. It’s surrendering what feels good but keeps us far from God.

The greatest risk isn't in sins that cause you pain, but in those you enjoy and don't wish to release.

CHOOSE GOD OVER WHAT FEELS GOOD.

All pales before His Presence.

Questions

  • Is there something in my life I enjoy too much to let go, even though I know it's not pleasing to God?
  • What has He been touching in my life that I trust more than Him?

Nothing is worth the risk that will prevent you from drawing close and enjoying the presence of God.

Prayer Challenge: Surrender

The true test of surrender isn’t giving up what already hurts us. It’s laying down what feels good but pulls us away from holiness.  The use of our time and money are huge factors.

  • Are there sins in my life I secretly protect because I enjoy them?
  • Am I more willing to repent of what makes me feel bad than what feels good but dishonors God?

Lord, reveal the hidden sins I cling to. Reveal where and how the enemy is hiding behind human logic.  Give me the courage to release what is displeasing to you. Teach me to love You more than my sin. Amen
