How can I be sure that healing belongs to me?
(4.5 minutes read time)
This is a question that must be settled in our hearts if we are to enjoy the promises of God. If there are questions in our minds, the devil will use our doubts to his advantage by creating loopholes in the covenant that Jesus made with us on the Cross. Our doubts create loopholes because the promises are dependent on faith; if we think the covenant of healing is not a sure thing, we are providing the devil with a foothold or the ability to create a loophole in which he can lie to us. The Adversary will present a compelling case of why we are not healed and will be able to convince us that the covenant is not legitimate, which effectively keeps us in doubt and unbelief and therefore sick. As a result, the promise of healing and deliverance becomes elusive and always in the future. Always in a state of “I hope so” instead of “I know so!”
We know from experience that an Adversary realizes he must find loopholes in a contract in order to violate it on contest it. The devil will take advantage of every opening we allow to accuse us in the courts of heaven and demand sickness, disease, and his tyrannical dominion over our life.
Our healing and deliverance are legal issues. We must know our rights and know how to enforce compliance with the covenant. And remember, we have an Advocate—Jesus Christ! We need to give the devil a reason to flee. (James 4:7)
After crossing the Red Sea, God established His will and intent when He declared Himself to be Jehovah Rapha-the Lord your Healer.
Exo 15:26 and said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord (Jehovah Rapha) who heals you."
- One of the redemptive names of God-Jehovah Rapha
- This is the only one of the redemptive names that God used to refer to Himself and He made it clear “I am the Healer”. The other Redemptive names were created by men at the revelation of the character that the name described.
- Rapha-Paleo Hebrew pictographs: (read right to left) resh-head of a man, pey-mouth man is healed by opening his mouth and receiving as one receiving medicine. It’s not enough to read the word. You must eat it and possess it. Ezek. 3:1-3 4. The word “heal-rapha” means to heal, mend, fix, refresh and is used to mean medicine. He is your Fixer. He is your Medicine. He is your primary care physician!
(Eze 3:1 Moreover He said to me, "Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel." 2 So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll. 3 And He said to me, "Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you." So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness.)
Pro 4:20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. 21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; 22 For they are life to those who find them, And *health to all their flesh.
*Health-marpe-from the same root word as “rapha” and literally means medicine or remedy.
If you consume God’s word long enough, it will heal you. We take prescription drugs religiously, month after month, year after year; yet, when it comes to the Word of God, we barely crack open our Bibles. It’s possible to overdose with medicine, but it is impossible to overdose with the Word! Our consistency and steadfast confession of the Word demonstrates honor and trust. It will bear fruit. It is health to all your flesh.
We have a “sure” covenant. There are no loopholes in this covenant.
Isa 53:4 NKJV Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
Surely-aken-means ‘in fact’, certainly
The scripture is saying that this verse is “ a fact”. We know facts are admissible in a court of law. Know the facts!
The word “griefs”-cholee is translated 24 times in the Old Testament as sickness or disease. This is the only instance where it is translated “griefs”.
The word “sorrows”-makob is translated 11 out of 16 times as “pain”.
Jerome, a third-century translator, spiritualized healing in this passage because he rejected the idea of supernatural healing. Otherwise, Jerome was an excellent translator. Of course, when one is sick and in pain certainly there is grief and sorrow but that is not the complete picture this verse is conveying.
It is believed that Is. 53 is referred to 85 times in the New Testament! I think that means it’s important!
Isa 53:1NKJV Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
Have you believed this report, this revelation, this information as true facts? Are these verses a “surely” for you? For those who believe, the arm of the Lord is revealed. The arm of the Lord refers to God’s triumphant power that will be unveiled and displayed in your life. No loopholes!
Psa 89:34 NKJV My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.
Psa 119:89 Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven.
Now let His Word, the facts, be settled in your heart for this is where Jesus lives and heaven resides. Healing belongs to you. Give the devil no loopholes. Receive your healing now.
