Positioned for the Wave
This is the month of Sivan on the Hebrew spiritual calendar. Sivan speaks of timing and season. Timing matters, and it is important to discern the season we are in.
This past weekend, there was a national gathering for prayer in Washington, DC. More than 15,000 people assembled to pray for Israel and for our nation. The timing of that gathering is important.
The effects of those prayers will be felt, and I believe the first wave will begin to manifest as we honor the Feast of Pentecost this weekend. We can either turn our eyes toward that expectation and receive it, or let it pass over us like an unnoticed wave of glory.
Many people stand in the surf and let the waves wash over them without a second thought. Others recognize the power within each wave. Surfers position themselves to catch that energy and let the wave carry them where it is meant to go. The thrill is unmistakable.
Waves in the ocean come in sets. If you are surfing, you must wait patiently for the set to arrive. You watch the horizon with anticipation, looking for the subtle rise in the water. Then you see it. It starts as a slight swell beginning to form in the distance. Immediately, you position yourself in the optimal place to catch the wave.
God is saying, “Get ready! Position yourself and gaze intently into the heavens. There is a swell on the horizon.” This could be the ride of your life. A revival, restoration of unveiled mysteries are coming and it starts now. You feel it as a swell in your inner man.
Sometimes it feels like that wave is never going to come. But God is never late. He does not delay. He moves according to His times and seasons.
What we often call delay is actually God redefining and repositioning us. What you are feeling is the subtle rise of tension signaling the set of glory waves.
Moses was not delayed on the mountain the way Israel perceived. Moses knew this was the glory wave that would take them into the Promise Land. God was redefining and repositioning His people. He was transforming them from slaves into possessors, from captives into warriors, from beach waders to big surf riders.
Remember, even if you were not physically in DC last weekend, you are still involved. That means as the church (eklesia) we carry a responsibility to be in position to catch this wave of His glory. This is what Pentecost teaches us. Positioning.
The glory wave is on the horizon. Timing matters. Ask any surfer.
