The Prophetic Significance of 5786: A Year of Connection and Renewal

In the Hebrew language, letters have numerical value, called gematria. Words with the same numerical value are connected to each other, much like our genetics connect one person to another.

On September 23rd, we shifted into the year 5786 on the civil Hebrew calendar. In the Bible, this is referred to as either the first month or Ethanim (1 Kings 8:2). The Lord always speaks to us prophetically when there is a shift. This is a time of renewal—a closing of one season and the beginning of another.

The number 6 is especially significant for this year, 5786. Six is the number of man, and its corresponding Hebrew letter is the vav. The ancient pictograph of the vav (see image below) is a picture of a tent peg or nail, symbolizing something used to connect or secure. Grammatically, vav is also used as the conjunction “and,” which connects people, places, and things.

The first use of the vav in Scripture is found in Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Here, God is connecting heaven and earth. This is also a beginning for us. This year is a call to refocus our attention upward—away from the constant distractions of earth—and realign with our heavenly position. Let the truth of Ephesians 2:6 (“And raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”) be more than a theological concept of the future. It is the reality of who you are now—the new creation you. It is where you, the new creation you lives!

This is significant! You are not who you once were—a sinner without the power to say ‘no’.  You are a new creation, a never seen before creation.  You cannot continue in sin. You cannot walk in hate, stay offended, walk in jealousy and pride. You only have one song—His  song to sing.

You love because you are connected to the One in Heaven who sings His song through you. This is the testimony of you—the new creation.  We only have to see it to have it. You only have to hear it to sing it.

“By His grace, I am a new creation, connected to Heaven, and empowered to sing His song of love.”
