The Super Generation

Every year, the fourth generation of the monarch butterfly will take a three-month journey. These butterflies will travel fifty miles a day from all parts of Canada, converge in Texas, and then fly down to one spot on a mountain in Mexico, arriving at almost the same time. It is the fourth generation, known as the super generation, that makes this thirty-five-hundred-mile trip.

The Lord is raising up His own fourth generation, also known as the super generation. It was the fourth generation of Israel that crossed the Jordan to take the promise land.

The fourth generation is the generation that has been refined in the furnace of thirst, hunger, and delay. Each test is designed to redefine us transforming our mindset, shifting us from a slave mentality to one of a land occupier. Jacob (His name means: he who struggles with God) was bound like the caterpillar who struggles, but God transformed him to become Israel (God prevails).

Isaiah 41:14 
"Fear not, you worm Jacob, You men of Israel! I will help you," says the LORD And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. 

The caterpillar lives as a slave to gravity, crawling on the ground and laboring for sustenance. Then comes the challenge. Everything literally changes. He finds himself in the chrysalis of delay. He is literally totally dismantled and redesigned. His former identity becomes obsolete, and God’s original intentions are being formed.

Then the anticipated day arrives, and the inherent traits encoded in his DNA from the beginning are now fully formed. He emerges a new creation. No longer earthbound, he soars into the heavenlies as part of the powerful fourth generation. He was refined and redesigned as a new creation.

Do you feel like things in your life are being dismantled? Is what you have relied on no longer effective and no longer producing results? Are you finding family, friends, work, and ministry are being rearranged? Do things seem to be on hold? Welcome to the chrysalis of delay. God is reforming you to His original intent and design. Wait on the Lord! Don’t be tempted to change course from the word that our Lord has given you. He will come.

He is never late and always on time. You can trust Him.  He knows what He is doing. Lazarus’s delay led to his resurrection; like a caterpillar emerging from a tomb, he became a testament to resurrection power. He knew he was not bound to the earthly grave.

Don’t let delay derail you. Delay acts as a chrysalis, shedding the old so what He wrote on your DNA from the beginning may emerge. He is redefining how you think of yourself and how you perceive the world.

This is how He is preparing a powerful fourth generation to occupy His promises. A people who are fearless—Individuals who demonstrate resolve even in challenging circumstances. Waiting is the chrysalis of transformational delay.

You have always been destined to fly, whether it be like the super generation Monarchs or even better—eagles!
