The Devil's war room

A group of medieval warriors in dark armor gathers around a large parchment blueprint in a torch-lit stone war room, pointing at plans and strategizing together. Bold white text reads, “Who’s drawing the plans for your mind? Know the plans. Defeat the architect. 2 Cor. 10:4-5.” The Flowing River Ministries logo appears in the bottom-left corner.

Privy to the Devil's War Room

Has the Lord ever allowed you to be privy to the devil's war room? Yes, He has, many times. Sometimes He shows us in dreams, with scripture, or through an incident that happens during the day.  There's an uncanny sense that the Holy Spirit is showing us something. We are not to be unaware of the devil's schemes, which are his thoughts, ideas, and imaginations to destroy us.

If you know the enemy's plans, you can circumvent them or outwit him. Defeat him before he has a chance to make his move. So what does the devil’s war room reveal? His method is almost always the same, and it starts in the mind with thoughts and imaginations that are contrary to God’s will.

We do not wage war according to human standards, according to the natural, or even according to logic. We have been given weapons forged in heaven. These are high-level weapons of spiritual technology.

2Co 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

According to these verses, thoughts create strongholds. A stronghold is a fortified structure, a fortress like a castle, and every castle requires an architect. The Aramaic word for strongholds can also be translated "rebellious castles." (TPT Brian Simmons) We know the architect. He is our arch-enemy, the dragon of old, and his main weapon is misdirection through deception. He creates these strongholds, castles of rebellion to keep us captive with the same old identity through vain, deprecating, or fearful thoughts.

He uses thoughts to direct our paths. If we choose to listen and obey, it usually leads to questions. Questions that make you wonder, is God really good, loving, and merciful? If so, why is this happening to me? The questions lead to uncertainty, and we surrender to fear. The fear becomes anxiety. That is the blueprint he draws from.

Besides the fiery darts of thoughts, he has his own armor: the Shield of Doubt, the Helmet of Hopelessness, the Girdle of Lies, and the Shoes of Chaos. These are counterfeits of the armor God gives us.

The Shield of Doubt is used in open conversation with demons. We think it's just our own thoughts because it sounds like us, it makes sense, and it sounds like truth or reality. This is the conversation the Serpent had with Eve. He questioned God's word, and Eve answered as though God's command was not enough.

Our answer is the Shield of Faith, held up while we swing the sword, the Word of God. The technological advancement of this shield is beyond human abilities. It can quench even the most lethal thought or imagination hurled in your direction.

Here is the important rule of warfare: continue until the enemy is destroyed and cannot rise again. Often we back off when the enemy lets up in our lives. He has only retreated until a more opportune time. Don't be lulled into thinking it's over. King David knew better.

Psa 18:37 I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them; Neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed.
38 I have wounded them, So that they could not rise; They have fallen under my feet.
42 Then I beat them as fine as the dust before the wind; I cast them out like dirt in the streets.

Don’t give the enemy any ground on which to build his castles of rebellion, strongholds that keep you bound and always struggling. Every thought you take captive is ground he can’t use or build upon. He has been planning against you, so turn the tables. Take his strategy apart and pursue him until he can’t rise again.
